Remoistening Systems
For more than 50 years, Eltex, D has supplied the graphics industry with remoistening systems, including systems for remoistening of the paper webs after the drying process in heatset presses.
During the drying process of the ink, unintended dehydration of the paper web can occur, which will cause the paper web to shrink and thereby snap more easily.
The paper absorbs moisture from the air and therefore expands after leaving the printing machine. Later, when the completed product is gathered by the signatures with varying storage times, the signatures are after some time again at risk of expanding beyond the cover.
To solve this problem, Eltex has developed a remoistening system that charges the paper web statically and then sprays the paper webs from both sides with high-pressure water. The moisture level of the paper is hereby restored, preventing the signatures from expanding after leaving the printing machine.
In addition, the remoistening prevents the paper from tearing when folded later.
